Oil, hay, acrylic medium and brass golden leaves on canvas
From the pile of hay, a baby golden calf is peeking at the viewer. She rests there comfortably, blessed with a child’s ignorance, exposing only her head and a bit of her gilt-covered bust.
The painting portrays a calf named Mimi (named by the artist when she was just a few days old) who stole Ješe's heart and drew her attention to painting cows. She was a real doll and loved cuddling.
When feeding time was over and the farmer threw hay from the haystack above, Mimi would always stand beneath the hay waterfall, eagerly waiting to be buried under it.
The painting consists of oil paint, brass gold leaves, and actual hay, applied with glue and sealed with an acrylic medium, making it heavier than a typical oil or acrylic painting of the same size.
