The 'Mad Lioness' was inspired by Gerhard Richter's technique of smudging his paintings to give them the appearance of old analog photographs. This oil study is among several different technique studies that Ješe explored in 2020 to portray the distressed emotions of a lioness, expressing suppressed anger and helplessness.
