Doly was a cow from a Slovene farm included in the triptych titled "Feeding Time" which captures the cows in the original barn setting during their dinner. Ješe has spent quite a lot of time with these subjects and got to know them quite well. She also named them, since they didn't have any names before she started painting them.
This cow was the mother of Metka, the one on the right side of the group. She was a very peculiar cow, very timid, and not very friendly with humans. If one tried to touch or pet it, she started shaking her head in a very odd and aggressive way. A story says that when she was a calf she injured her head and that was also a reason her horns grew in the opposite directions as they did.
